Bed, Rope
Rope bed frame, converted to hold a box spring. The conversion is reversible. Bed rails are round (rather than square or rectangular) and have pegs to hold the ropes. The side rails have RH threads at one end and LH threads at the other so the form a sort of turnbuckle. When assembling you insert the threads into either end and as you turn the rail screws into the post at both ends. Dimensions to be provided.

Four Poster Rope bed was owned by Laban Conrad Davis, born 6/20/1843. It was his childhood bed and he was in the Civil War at age 21. He went west from Virginia, which had now become Pendleton County, West Virginia during his time at war. It has been passed down in the family. His granddaughter, My mother, Margaret Virginia Temple was gifted this at her marriage in 1943 to Dr. Preston Earl West. The original bed was fitted with ropes to hold a feather bed and they converted it to hold a box spring and mattress. Each side rail has a right hand screw on one end and a left hand on the other. Turn rail and both ends "tighten" at the same time. Have you ever heard of "Sleep Tight"? No one wants a sagging fatherbed! The rope knobs are intact, original and painful on the back of your legs when climbing in and out of bed. This was my childhood bed at a summer cottage in Delaware.
